South Hampshire Junior Lawyers Division (SHJLD)
May 03, 2019

The South Hampshire JLD (SHJLD) forms part of the national Junior Lawyers Division. We are run by a committee of junior lawyers and have a membership base of over 100 trainees, paralegals, newly qualified lawyers and barristers from across Hampshire.
We organise regular social events, networking events and career training and personal development workshops. We also offer many opportunities for junior lawyers to interact with professionals from non-legal organisations to develop these all important networking skills and to forge business relationships.
The SHJLD offers a variety of opportunities to socialise with like-minded junior lawyers. These include regular balls, cocktail making classes, as well as bowling and rounders activities. The SHJLD also hosts speed networking opportunities.
“If you are new to the legal profession, the Hampshire area, or both, the SHJLD is a great organisation to join; it’s a great way to meet others in the area and to learn about the profession locally.” - James Kitching
Hampshire offers a variety of living and working options depending on your interests and preferences. You could opt to live near the coast or countryside, remain close to London, or seek the more bustling options such as Southampton or Portsmouth.
At the weekends, you could escape even further from the hustle and bustle into the New Forest, or you could enjoy some delicious grub at one of the area’s many seafood restaurants or pubs. It’s a world away from London’s sweaty commuter trains, that’s for sure.
If you are interested in joining the SHJLD, please contact the committee via email: committee.shjld@gmail.com. Alternatively, please visit the SHJLD website.
