ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF LAW AT EXETER

The University of Law has collaborated with the University of Exeter to offer the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and Legal Practice Course (LPC) with full-time options as well as a part-time weekend option for LPC students from September 2018.

Situated in the Amory Building on the Streatham Campus, the University’s largest site in Exeter, the Campus is built around a country estate overlooking the city which is recognised as being one of the most beautiful in the UK. A registered botanic garden, the Streatham Campus is referred by The Times as the ‘best-gardened campus in Britain’ and by The Independent as having a ‘sublime’ setting.

The Forum provides a centrepiece for the Streatham Campus, a £50m student services centre with a refurbished library, new technology-rich learning spaces, a 400-seat lecture theatre, the University reception and retail and catering outlets. All the teaching buildings, together with the sports park, the library, the shops, restaurants, cafés and bars are within walking distance of each other.

Offering students the best of both worlds – The University of Law’s market leading professional legal training courses taught by tutors who are qualified lawyers combines perfectly with the outstanding student experience and stunning surroundings of the University of Exeter’s Streatham Campus.

OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY

The city centre is a 15-minute walk away from the Streatham Campus. It is rich both in history and culture with a wide range of attractions, entertainment and shopping to suit all tastes. There is a vibrant mix of modern shops, bars and restaurants, mixed with independent boutiques and cafes. Attractions such as Exeter Cathedral, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and the Exeter Phoenix provide visitors with a variety of things to do, with events scheduled throughout the year.

If you’re looking for some fresh air, you can jump on a train from Exeter St David’s down to the pretty coastline of Exmouth and Dawlish, and the beautiful craggy landscape of Dartmoor National Park is only a half hour’s drive from the city centre.

STUDENTS’ UNION

Our students at Exeter have associate student membership of the Exeter Student Guild. This gives almost full access to all their societies, sports clubs, and other facilities - the limits are not voting in their elections or representing the University of Exeter in competitions.

Activities aren't just about having fun though, and you also have the benefit of the University of Law’s employability service, with activities and events to help you prepare for life in legal practice.

Our employability service encompasses both careers advice (such as one-to-one advice from our specialist legal careers advisers) and pro bono opportunities (where you get to put your legal skills into practice in a real-world context). You’ll also be able to use the basic facilities in Exeter’s Career Zone, conveniently located at the heart of the Streatham Campus.
