The School of Justice is a well-established legal hub in the North West of England with over forty years of providing legal education. It is an exciting and vibrant place to study law, offering students innovative courses and a great many extracurricular opportunities to develop their legal knowledge and skills. We are an ideal option for those wanting to pursue a career in the legal field.

We are an award-winning School dedicated to developing individuals. Not only do our students win national and international awards from taking part in competitions like mediation and mooting and our Academics win awards for the research, but we also win awards for our student experience, for example, being nominated for the Outstanding Contribution to Work Experience in the National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards, 2020.

Our students benefit from our excellent location, with our School being situated in Preston, which is home to the Preston Crown Court. Preston sees the second highest number of crown court trials in the country. Second only to London, Preston sees some of the highest profile  criminal cases. Examples include the Cregan, Bulger and Shipman trials. Students can visit the courts and go behind the scenes to discover more about these infamous cases.

Many staff are research active and experts within their field, with experience in practice as solicitors, barristers and judges, senior police officers and  senior managers in major organisations

We offer great opportunities for international travel. Students can study our law degrees at our campus in Cyprus or in Mauritius. The Law School also offers study trips across Europe to places including The Hague, Auschwitz, Brussels and Luxembourg, as well as the opportunity to enhance employability skills with our week-long leadership course in Cyprus. There have been opportunities to travel on exchange trips to Mauritius. Our Study Abroad programme offers even more options to study overseas – in almost any destination worldwide.

In addition, a number of our modules will give our students qualifications additional to their degrees. Students can become accredited Mediators and gain Associate membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators significantly enhancing their employability prospects.

UCLan has excellent library facilities and the Law School has a dedicated librarian. The library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during term time and, in addition, e-resources can be accessed remotely any time of the day or night.
