Training Contract
We offer training contracts in both Bristol and London, and either way, you’ll spend two years discovering the innovation we’re known for. As well as moving through four six-month seats across our practice areas, you’ll also benefit from the Compass programme; our unique and progressive trainee skills academy that offers a combination of practical learning and online tools designed to support your journey through to qualification.
Trainee Profile
We want to hear from ambitious future lawyers, who are ready to leave their mark. We’re looking for students who are on course for at least a 2:1 in any degree subject. That said, academic performance isn’t everything: that’s why we look for raw talent and potential throughout our assessment process.
To secure a training contract for a September 2024 or March 2025 start date, you must complete a vacation scheme with us. Applications for our London winter vacation scheme open on 10 September 2021 and close on 1 November 2021. Applications our London summer vacation scheme open on 19 September 2021 and close on 19 December 2021. Aplications for our Bristol summer vacation scheme open on 19 September 2021 and close on 4 February 2022.
Vacation Scheme
Discover what it’s like to be a trainee lawyer with one of our vacation schemes. Over one or two weeks in either Bristol or London, you’ll experience the work, the reach and the day-to-day buzz of our international firm. Throw yourself into this full programme of social events and work experience, and you’ll get a taste for our firm and the work we do, from research to drafting, and meetings to departmental training.
Winter vacation scheme (London): A one-week scheme aimed specifically at final year students and graduates of all disciplines. Applications open 10 September 2021
Spring insight scheme (London): A two-day workshop for first year students of all disciplines, as well as penultimate year non-law students. Applications open 19 November 2021

Salary & Benefits
We will cover your full tuition fees for law school and provide you with a maintenance grant. Those joining our Bristol office will be offered the option of studying in Bristol or London and those joining the London office will study in London. Non law graduates will study BPP’s law conversion course called the PDGL, for which we will provide a maintenance grant of £6,500 in Bristol and £7,500 in London.
The Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) is set to replace the LPC. The SQE will be introduced by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) in September 2021. Those joining September 2024 and March 2025 intakes will be asked to follow the SQE route to qualification. This will continue to involve a one year preparatory course, which we will sponsor. The course will be designed to support you through the SQE exams and ensure you have all the skills you need to hit the ground running during your training contract. The maintenance grant will be £7,500 in Bristol and £9,000 in London. Keep an eye on our website for further information.

London: £46,000 (year 1), £50,500 (year 2), £100,000 (on qualification/ NQ);
Bristol
Bristol: £40,500 (year 1), £42,500 (year 2), £68,000 (on qualification, NQ).

Other benefits

Vacation schemes
For the winter and summer London vacation schemes, participants will receive £425 per week. Bristol summer vacation scheme interns will receive £350 per week and spring insight scheme participants will receive £150 for the two day workshop.
