Profile

Foot Anstey LLP is a premier legal practice delivering specialist expertise to an impressive portfolio of regional, national and international clients. An entrepreneurial firm with history and tradition, we are on an exciting journey, as we look to the future. With over 500 people working across our network of seven offices in the South and South West, we provide exceptional legal services and advice to our clients. We consider our people to be our most valuable asset and offer continual opportunities for support and professional development.

Training Contract

As one of our trainees, we look to develop you into a Business Adviser within one of our six key sectors.  Working across teams and offices will ensure you are successful in reaching this goal. Regular, open communication with your supervisors comes as standard. You will get lots of exposure to different situations, clients and to people within the firm who will help you to develop your legal and commercial expertise, in an environment that is friendly and supportive. We aim to recruit talented future solicitors and to create an environment that will provide you with the opportunity to reach your full potential.

When you start, we will offer you a detailed induction and on-boarding programme over your first three months and assign you a buddy from the existing Trainee/NQ population. Our on-going training sessions help prepare you to become a fully qualified solicitor – both legal and non-legal – throughout your training contract. You may also have the opportunity for a secondment with one of our clients as part of your training or to take part in our Virtual Trainee programme.  We put an emphasis on supported personal and professional development throughout your training contract and into your NQ period.

We ask all our Trainees to play a key role in our CSR and charitable activities - and you're actively encouraged to get involved in the firm's social calendar.

Vacation Scheme

We are recruiting for 2023 and 2024.

Our Summer Vacation Scheme will take place from 27 June 2022 to 1 July 2022 in our Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth and Southampton offices.  During the week candidates will be aligned to a team and work with them as a valued member of that team taking part in "real" work including attending internal and client meetings and attending court.  Candidates will also have the opportunity to attend insight sessions on different practice areas, initiatives within the firm and take part in socials all of which aim to give candidates a true insight into what it is like to work at the firm.

The final day of the Vacation Scheme will be an assessment day following which successful candidates will be offered a Training Contract with the firm.

In addition to the Vacation Scheme, we also recruit from standalone Training Contract Assessment Days in July.  Candidates can therefore apply for either a place on the Vacation Scheme or one of the Training Contract Assessment Days.  Please note, candidates cannot apply for both.

Apprenticeships

We have a thriving community of Apprentices now across all our major offices, working not only in the Legal teams but also Accounts and Business Services. We have really strong relationships with colleges in our key locations and are able to offer excellent support and training during your apprenticeship with us.
